Last week, I blogged about Fufu (an African food made from cassava). This week however, I have decided to enlighten food lovers on an African soup called Egusi soup. The Egusi soup is very popular among the Igbo ethnic group (A tribe in Nigeria) but can be eaten and embraced by other ethnicities in Nigeria as well. This luscious delicacy is mostly eaten/served with fufu. It is made from ground melon seed. It is usually prepared with different types of vegetables. It is very high in Vitamins (mainly vitamin e) and protein.

Another one is the "Spaghetti Carbonara", the Italian pasta dish that has a white sauce based on cheese, bacon, egg, and black pepper. Ice cream @ Coventry
By Marliana Syazwani Dzulkipli
Imagine yourself walking around during summer time and it can be
really hot when the temperature hits 25 degrees or more, and all you can think of is
either cold drink or ice-cream! I have to admit, nothing beats the feeling of
having an ice cream during the summer time! It is seriously the best feeling
ever.
So, if you find
yourself wandering around Coventry town, make sure that you find the one and
only ice cream stall located in the middle of the town and do try out their
delicious ice cream. They offer different kinds of flavors and toppings too, and to
top it off, it’s cheap!
Chi Bar
By Satirajit Paripoonyo (Prang)
A hurry lunch or dinner time, I recommend you to go to Chi Bar!
Chi Bar or Chinese restaurant is located at 13 High Street Coventry which is opposite the Barclays Bank. It is so easy to find the place and their price is actually affordable too!
There are variety types of food that is being offered in the menu such as rice, noodle, dessert and dim sum. On a side note, their staffs are kind and warmly welcoming too.
They provide different ways of services which are either eat-in, take away and delivery.
The foods that I really want to recommend you to order when you visit this restaurant are Deep Fried Tofu and Teriyaki Duck with Egg Fried Rice. I would also like to recommend you to try their delicious Pork or Chicken Katsu BBQ and Mayo.
Quick question, are you a vegetarian? Because if yes, this restaurant also offers some delicious foods which are suitable for you. For example, they have Vegetable Fried Rice with Deep Fried Tofu, Deep Fried Tofu Curry with Rice, Malay Sponge Cake, Mantou (Chinese plain bun) and Deep Fried Tofu.
I would say that this is such a lovely place with music and free WiFi is also available.

China Red, Coventry
By Jatuporn Atipatayawong
A little while ago, I was craving for some chinese food as I was walking in the city center. There are many chinese places in Coventry city area where you can grab chinese meal. I always walk pass China Red on my way back home but I have never tried their dinner buffet menu until couple days ago.
China Red offers chinese buffet which is somewhat differ than other chinese restaurants rather than having to walk around and picking your dish from the buffet table, here you can order anything from the buffet menu (much more to choose from than regular buffet) which will be cooked freshly and served to your table. This is like the buffet meal with a full services!! What could have been better!!
From the range of menu they offered, it was hard to decide on what to have as there were only two of us and we know we couldn't have it all. Upon waiting for the food to arrive, the prawn cracker was served as an appetiser without ordering. Although the prawn cracker was irresistible, I recommend you to just have some bite or not at all for your own benefit as this will make you full quicker :)
For the stater, we ordered crispy aromatic duck, wonton soup, and chicken & sweetcorn soup to share. Overall, I would recommended the crispy aromatic duck and the wonton soup. The crispy aromatic duck was served with the pancake, veggies, and hoi sin sauce (on the sweet side).
The right way to eat this is to paste the sauce on to the pancake then put some duck and veggies on top then finally wrap the pancake and put it in your mouth. The salty and crispy texture of the duck combine with the freshness of the veggies together with the sweet hoi sin sauce, that is just pretty much everything in just a bite!! The wonton soup is a clear soup with wonton. From the dense taste of the duck, wonton soup is pretty light and will give you more appetite for the next dishes.
As for main, we ordered six different dishes. I couldn't remember all the name but I do remember some of my favorite. Here are what I recommended you to try: Deep Fried Shredded Chili beef, Roast Duck in Plum Sauce, and King Prawn Foo Yung. The truth is all the dishes were actually good (way better than those on the regular chinese buffet table) but the three I recommended are those I will ordered again if I have a chance to go back for another visit. For the price of 13.99, I think China Red is worth.

Delicious Fresh Donuts!
By Marliana Syazwani Dzulkipli
While some people might prefer donuts with different toppings of which normally chocolate, peanut butter, strawberry and other various flavors, I would honestly say that I still prefer the old fashioned plain donuts with sugars sprinkled on top of it. Just like the ones in the picture, doesn’t the donuts look tempting?
While some people might prefer donuts with different toppings of which normally chocolate, peanut butter, strawberry and other various flavors, I would honestly say that I still prefer the old fashioned plain donuts with sugars sprinkled on top of it. Just like the ones in the picture, doesn’t the donuts look tempting?
These donuts are freshly baked daily and you can get four of ‘em just for £1.40! I must say that this is the best donuts that I have ever tried so far in Coventry, and not only because it is cheap but definitely because it tastes really good. It has a really soft fluffy texture that will surely melts in your mouth.
Donuts, to me are one of the happy foods that often make anyone smile when they see ‘em on the counters. Who wouldn’t love donuts?
With a strategic location where the stall is located in the middle of the town of Coventry makes it really easy to find! Plus, the best part of it is that it is open daily!
